As I’m sure you know by now, I am a huge fan of HGTV and primarily their early programming. One of the shows I really loved (I can’t remember the name) took designer rooms and “recreated” them on a budget. I think good design should be accessible to all budgets – you may just need to think outside the box, incorporate vintage pieces or repurpose items you already own.
Over the next several months, I will offer a “Chic Take” blog post! It’s going to be my take on that classic HGTV show. I’ll share design tips and suggestions for creating an “out of a magazine” design look on a budget. I’ll use items from my shop and online store – so if you love the look, it can all be yours! My first inspiration piece is a console table that comes from the pages of a well-known and loved home decor store catalog.
The Inspiration Console Table
This console table vignette currently retails for over $3000. No question, it’s beautiful. I’m drawn to its clean lines, natural wood color, and the variety of heights, textures, and visual interests the decor on the table offers. I think I can recreate this look for less!
A console table is a very versatile piece of furniture – you may have one in your dining room, living room, or entryway. Color, lines, texture, and scale of decor items are all important considerations when styling your table.
My Chic-Take
I’ve chosen a natural-toned wood table. The lines are smooth and clean and just like the inspiration piece, this console table would work well in a farmhouse, traditional or modern home.
Next, I chose the decor pieces! Similar to the inspiration, I am working with natural elements, wood, clay, wicker, etc. The live edge vase is a perfect vessel for seasonal arrangements – imagine it with dogwood branches in the spring, fall leaves in autumn, or greenery in the summer.
A mirror is always a great choice for a console table. Especially for a console vignette in your entryway. Everyone needs one last look in the mirror as they head out the door!
I’m a huge fan of baskets – not only do they offer great texture, but they offer sleek storage options. This large basket would be great for storing blankets, shoes, and so on…The other accessories I’ve included are a trio of clay pots (3 is the magic number when it comes to decorating!), the super popular wooden garland, and wooden candle sticks.
What do you think of my Chic Take? You know what’s the best part of my look – the price. My modern farmhouse look comes in at $657! This whole console look for 80% less than the designer look! Shop this look in-store and online today!
Another Console Look
If one is good…two are better! I wanted to give you one more console look!
There is no set of rules for designing a console vignette. How about a desk as a console table? Imagine the display and storage options when using a desk in your entryway or living room.
Again, I’ve chosen a mirror to anchor the decor and layered it with artwork.
I’ve added a lamp and used my rule of 3 when adding the neutral white ceramic vases. Offering a variety of heights is also key in decorating – vintage books are a great way to add some height. Greenery is always a must when designing a vignette.
Two console table inspirations for your home. Let me know what you think and don’t forget to tag me on Instagram with photos of your Chic looks!
