The sun is showing itself more often, the snow is melting, and the temperatures are rising, yay! I get the itch to make some changes at home at this time of year more than other time of year.
Maybe because it’s so ugly outside now with all of the mud and such. Maybe it’s the anticipation of flea market season, too? I love to have something to search for. I’m always on the hunt for the shop, but it’s fun to find a little something for myself sometimes.
Or maybe it’s because we have been stuck inside the house and I have had a lot of time to think about what I’d like to change. I think it’s a combination of all of the above. How about you?
One thing I’d really like to change is my dining room.
Yes, that’s Christmas decor piled up on my buffet. I guess it’s time to put that away, too. I couldn’t believe how much I still had out. At least now it’s all in one pile soon to make it’s way into a bin. As soon as I buy more bins that is.
But, I digress. The actual issue driving all of this rearranging is, I want to move this cabinet into the dining room. I don’t like the TV on it.
I’m not sure why I didn’t turn the TV off for the photo or why the stool/table is in the. middle of the room??
The cabinet is from the Hudson’s building that was in downtown Detroit and is probably my very favorite piece of furniture that I own. I’m guessing it’s about 100 years old. I love that someone stamped, “REAR OF STORE” on the top.
It was hard to get a good picture, but you get the idea
The third area that needs a change is this weird, useless part of the living room
Design Tip: If you stick with the same color palette throughout your house, it’s super easy to move things to different rooms when you are tired of them in one room. I have a lot of grays, whites, purples, and silver to make up my rustic elegant (with a touch of boho) decor.
You know all of these changes are leading to some treasure hunting, right?
