It’s been a different summer, hasn’t it? Instead of planning multiple getaways like I normally do, I have been working on my much-neglected house with room re-decorating. We started with some inexpensive projects during quarantine. I’m trying to keep with that same mindset. Simple, yet chic.
I started cleaning the garage and painting some of the pieces I found out there. I showed you some that I started working on in my previous post. With this heat and humidity though, I abandoned that idea and moved back inside. I promise though, I will get back to painting furniture and show you the “afters” soon.
As I also told you in my previous blog, Howard has been at his mom’s house in North Carolina for a while helping her out. So, for me, hubby being away just lent itself to doing some serious re-decorating.
Howard sent me a selfie while he was away so that I could remember what he looked like. Yep, he’s still sporting his quarantine look. His hair is longer than mine, I think. It’s in a ponytail…
Quarantine Project – Room Re-Do
Meanwhile, I sort of kind of finished a “quarantine project” that Howard and Kyle started for me. I’m super good at starting projects, but not the best at finishing them.
My office was basically a part of the living room. Since I’m not the tidiest desk person, I decided that maybe that is not such a great idea. I moved my desk to Kyle’s abandoned bedroom and created a new sitting area in its place.
Chic Vintage Find
Howard rescued these doors from a friend’s house in Detroit many years ago. They are about 100 years old and I absolutely love them.
I knew that I wanted to. use them in our house somehow. I decided to use them as a bit of a partition between the living room and the new “sitting room”. I also had Howard switch around some of my chandeliers. The one pictured above is now in my bedroom. I still haven’t finished hanging the crystals on this one. Part of the reason I said I “sort of/kind of” finished.
Howard and Kyle hung the doors on the track I bought on Amazon for $100. I used some of the same furniture and accessories that I had in my office. I also did some shopping at Chic Antiques to finish off this room. I’m super happy about how this is coming along.
Come back next time and I’ll give you some design tips on how I decorated this room. Thank you!
